coop update

venus is doing great.  other than seeming a little lonely and begging for attention. she stole a pretzel from Quinn today, so i think her spunk is returning.  

she is also getting new feathers!  though right now they are just poking out and look like stubble all over her bare behind.  sort of gross.

venus and spring get along famously inside the coop.  until i try to come in and then spring gets jittery and looks to venus for protection.  venus barely tolerates it.

 

this is as far a spring will go when i open the coop door to let them free range in the yard.  she'll look out at the 1/2 acre of space, but she won't set foot out of the coop.  she spent her first 3 months in cages at a feed store, the yard must be imposing to her.

this is Quinny's protest when i tell him it's time to go inside.  this melt down comes complete with tears and loud wailing of "Nooooo"  and "Outside".  every day.  today we made a deal - a lollipop for no screaming.  it's so sweet when they understand bribery.
